Hey all, there was a post under let's talk discussing another website eyes2eyes. Well, this kind of got me thinking about the boards and the topics. There are so many more options over here on the zone.

What are your thoughts and suggestions for them? What do you like? What would you like to see added if possible? Any clean up suggestions?

Look forward to your responses.

When I first joined the zone, there were a lot fewer board topics. In fact, it was from eyes2eyes that I got the idea to suggest a jokes board, so obviously they do respond well here to suggestions. Over the past four years a lot of board topics have been added. As far as unnecessary ones, I really think elder folks could be omitted without anybody really missing it. I haven't seen anything discussed on their that you couldn't bring up somewhere else. I can sort of see the need for safe haven, although I don't think many people use it these days as most people on here aren't that easily offended that they need a safe haven. I really think they should take a good look at unused or rarely used categories and get rid of them.

well, i think that for starters the old pages of the main boards need to be moved to the arkived board topics, the only thing i am aware of there is 1 anouncement!

i'd like to see the removal of elder folk too, i rarely see it used

safe haven is an important part of the zone, at least for some people.

i'd like to see the anouncements moved in to the suggestions, maybe as a sub board so that the users can comment on the anouncements

i'd also like to see an "unwanted thread" section, where all the topics (bashing or just getting out of hand) go and get locked. either that or a bash board... lol

would also love to see a "website exchange" like the promote it section. not everyone knows about that, you know

Well i kind of like them the way they are! The "Bashing Board" thing though...lol!

I don't like the idea of a bashing board. It would just encourage more of what goes on around here too often anyway.

How old do you guys think a board should be before it get's archived? OR I guess it'd probably be how long before it hasn't been posted in would you like to see it archived.

i think 6 months would be good, but of course, the obvious exceptions remain in the relevant part of the site

I agree with six months.

90 days.

Yeah, 90 days sounds better actually. I mean, the thing ends up buried after a month anyway, lol. As for a bashing board, bring it on!

What's the purpose of archiving boards? It still takes up the same amount of space. Same for Elder Folk. What would we do with it? We don't want to kill the topics that are there. Oh, and we have the rant board for your frustrations.

I guess archiving some of the really old topics would be ok. I just think it is ubnoctious when people drag up old topics from years ago ...
